Space for Intermodal Transport
On 12th February, 2025 ISL‘s Managing Director Prof. Dr. Nils Meyer-Larsen participated in an ESA online event on ‘Space for Intermodal Transport’ as guest speaker. The event introduced a new ESA funding opportunity for European teams to develop innovative and sustainable services and applications for intermodal transport. The proposed projects must utilise satellite data or space-based technologies and can address both freight and passenger transportation.
On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Meyer-Larsen reported on ISL’s space-based maritime research for ESA. He in particular introduced the R&D project I-PORT to the audience, which developed space-based tracking solutions for cargo vessels and trucks with the goal to facilitate improved coordination of these transport assets in ports.
