Chongqing Customs boosts opening-up in Liangjiang

Lianglu Cuntan Bond Port in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Chongqing Customs on May 22, to further the economic opening-up of the port.

According to the memorandum, Chongqing Customs will support the port in the construction of five centers of manufacturing, R&D and design, logistics, inspection and maintenance, and marketing services.

Chongqing Customs will innovate a customs' supervision model to enhance the port's logistics distribution function, support the innovation of cross-border e-commerce at the port, and encourage the port to construct an "intelligent city".

Meanwhile, the port will create a sound business and law enforcement environment, and improve the convenience of customs clearance with the help of Chongqing Customs.

Currently Liangjiang is focusing on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and Chongqing's coordinated development, aiming to make Chongqing an intelligent city and an inland opening-up portal.

Despite the influence of the COVID-19 outbreak, the port achieved an increase of 5.52 percent in total output value of industries above a designated size - those with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or above - from January to April this year.
